Subject verb agreement explained with questions and answers
There are two main verbs. They are singular verb plural verb. As I used to say children, when there's disagreement between subject and verb there will be problem. Remember, nobody is above mistake but we have to avoid silly mistakes when communicating in English language. Are you with me children, God bless you.

The singular verb is used when:
1. A collective noun is considered as a whole. Examples: Kolade's family is in Osogbo. Look at what am saying children, there's more than one person in kolade's family but it's considered as a whole, that's why it takes singular verb (is), let's see another example. 2. There is a heap of rubbish outside the dustbin

2. When the following expressions are used: one, each, much, every, someone, anything, anybody, everyone and somebody, e.g, everybody is making a noise-- correct, everybody are making a noise--wrong, everybody has two eyes, one of her sons is in the debating team. etc

3. When abstract or uncountable nouns are used. Before I continue, give me examples of abstract nouns-- love, air, danger, patience, very good, examples of uncountable nouns are dust, oil, water, clap for yourself, you are all great.

Don't forget that I said when abstract or uncountable nouns are used, it will take singular verb, let's consider these examples; The old lady (hair) uncountable noun (is) grey. There is too much noise in this room. Children you can add your own example, good.
