What Happening Around The World On Covid-19
Hong Kong has hardened coronavirus restrictions as confirmed cases worldwide  hit above 14.2 million. Hong Kong now placed new restrictions as cases spike, recording more than 100 cases in the past 24 hours.

More so, India recorded the highest number of daily infections with almost 39,000 new patients reported, with the total tally now at 1,077,618.

Non-essential Hong Kong civil servants will work from home starting Monday as the global financial hub tightens social distancing restrictions further amid an escalating third wave of coronavirus cases, the city's leader Carrie Lam said.

Lam said the city recorded more than 100 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the tally since late January close to 2,000 patients, 12 of whom have died.

Chief executive Carrie Lam said more than 500 infections had been confirmed in the last fortnight, bringing the city's total tally to 1,788 cases with 12 fatalities.

In another report, Indian ship worker Tejasvi Duseja is desperate to go home after months stranded offshore by coronavirus border closures and lockdowns that have left more than 200,000 seafarers in limbo.

From engineers on cargo ships to waiters on luxury cruise liners, ocean-based workers around the world have been caught up in what the United Nations warns is a growing humanitarian crisis that has been blamed for several suicides.
